Authentic Ayurveda

Ayurveda, which is supposed to have originated over 6000 years ago, recorded in ancient scriptures and passed down generations, is the oldest surviving holistic science of healing and wellness.

The word 'Ayur-veda’ is derived from the ancient Sanskrit words ‘ayu' meaning 'life' and ‘veda' meaning 'knowledge'. This science or knowledge of healing, as mentioned in the Rig Veda, was revealed to Rishi Bharadvaja from the great Cosmic Intelligence. It was expounded and practiced by the same rishis, who were the propagators of Vedic civilisation in India, by organising the fundamentals of life into proper systems.

"Life (ayu) is the combination (samyoga) of body, senses, mind and reincarnating soul. Ayurveda is the most sacred science of life, beneficial to humans both in this world and the world beyond." — Charaka Samhita, Sutrasthana, 1.42-43.

This time-tested holistic medical system maintains that good health exists when the body, mind, soul and nature are in perfect harmony.

In the postmodern age, the popularity of this vibrant tradition of Ayurveda lies in its subtle yet scientific approach to heal a person in its totality.

The knowledge consists of three aspects known as the Tri-Sutras of Ayurveda, which are - etiology or the science of the causes of disease, symptomatology or the study and interpretation of symptoms, and medication and herbal remedies.

According to Ayurveda, the human body is composed of 3 fundamental elements or ‘tridoshas’ namely:

  • "DOSHAS" which represents the physio-chemical and physiological activities of the body
  • "DHATUS" denotes the materials entering the formation of a basic structure of the body cell, to perform basic actions
  • "MALAS" is the substance that is partly used in the body and partly excreted in another form after serving their physiological activities

Proper balance of these three 'irreducible principles' at work, in the human body, is essential.

There are 3 kinds of doshas. They are: 'Vata', 'Pitta' and 'Kapha', which may not be equal and same in all people. Our food habits, lifestyle etc., can be adjusted according to the body type to maintain perfect health.

Ayushya brings you Authentic Ayurveda that is based on these very principles of life, focusing on holistic healing and wellness, using the goodness of nature to stay hale and healthy.
